Rise of Cockroach Janta Party: How a Joke Became a National Protest | Documentary by Anurag Sason
Cockroach Janta Party documentary: Starting as a small joke, Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) quickly snowballed into a national movement, which subsided only after the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan, the former education minister.
Founded on 16 May 2026 by Abhijeet Dipke, a political communications strategist and activist, the CJP, also known as the Cockroach movement, is an Indian youth-led satirical political movement.
Its slogan is – Voice of the Lazy & Unemployed.
Demands of the CJP:
Reportedly, the Cockroach Janta Party has the following demands:
1) Resignation: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation over exam irregularities and paper leaks (achieved).
2) Financial Compensation: Rs 1 crore provided to the families of students who died by suicide due to paper leaks and exam cancellations.
3) Withdrawal of Cases: Across Delhi and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-ruled states, immediate dropping and withdrawal of all police FIRs and criminal cases against student protesters and organizers. Also, an end to fresh detentions.
4) Public Apology: From the Delhi Police and the Rapid Action Force (RAF), a formal public apology for the use of force and crackdowns on demonstrators.
Election Commission of India status of CJP:
The Cockroach Janta Party is not registered with the Election Commission of India (ECI). It is a youth-based satirical political movement.
About Abhijeet Dipke:
Reportedly, before founding the CJP, Abhijeet Dipke worked as a volunteer with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) social media team between 2020 and 2023. He created meme-based digital content aimed at young voters during the 2020 Delhi Legislative Assembly election. As per reports, he also served as a communication advisor for the education department of the then Government of Delhi.
2026 Jantar Mantar protests:
In Delhi, the CJP, in June 2026, began organising a series of protests expressing concerns regarding the transparency, accountability, and technical failures in the administration of competitive examinations.
It called for the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan over the leaks of national entrance examination (NEET) materials and the 2026 CBSE On-Screen Marking controversy.
