Q1) Let’s begin the interview with the birth anniversary of the late prime minister of India Mr Rajiv Gandhi (20 August 1944). You shared a special bond with him. Do you want to commit anything?
Mani Shankar Aiyar: He was a very nice person. He was a very principled and honest man. No taint of corruption on him.
Q2) what will happen in the Lok Sabha Election 2024?
Mani Shankar Aiyar: I think both sides have buckled up! Preparation for Mahabharat has begun and Lord Krishna and Pandavas are on our side.
Q3) India in the last nine years.
Mani Shankar Aiyar: In the last nine years, efforts are being made to divide the country, especially on the basis of caste. Modi ji says we are a great country, we Vishwa Guru. But I believe these are just empty slogans.
Q4) How do you see Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra?
Mani Shankar Aiyar: I got a chance to participate in the Bharat Jodo Yatra. Gandhis have the quality of taking challenges in their own ways.

Q5) Do you think that is this the right time for Rahul Gandhi to become prime minister of India?
Mani Shankar Aiyar: This will be decided by him. However, till now he has not shown any inclination that he is behind the prime ministerial post.
Q6) Both Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Rahul Gandhi are good politicians. Who is your favourite?

Q7) Will Mani Shankar Aiyar play any role in the Lok Sabha Election 2024?
Mani Shankar Aiyar: Whatever role I will be given. I am ready to take it. But I don’t know whether I will be given a role or not! I am ready to fight the election if the party will give me a ticket.
Q8) What are the three biggest challenges in front of India?
Mani Shankar Aiyar:
(a) Preserve our unity
(b) Reduce income disparity and
(c) Foreign policy – We Are getting inclined towards America. We have to be cautious that we don’t blindly follow the United States of America.
Q9) Your book “Memoirs Of A Maverick: The First Fifty Years” will be released on 23rd August. Tell us something about this book.
Mani Shankar Aiyar: Predominantly, this book is about my life, my family, and my friends.
Q10) Should a political leader not talk his heart out? Should he always follow his political party?
Mani Shankar Aiyar: I have never deviated from the principles of the Congress Party!
