Harley-Davidson India on Saturday said that the company is pleased to continue its journey in the country together with Hero MotoCorp. In October, Harley made India comeback and inked a distribution agreement with Hero MotoCorp.
“As we change our business model in India, we are pleased to be continuing our journey in the country together with Hero MotoCorp,” said Sajeev Rajasekharan, Managing Director – Asia Emerging Markets & India, in an official statement.
“We are working closely with Hero to ensure a smooth transition for our riders. We are providing our riders with updates as available and have assured them that Harley-Davidson motorcycle, parts and accessories and general merchandise sales, as well as after-sale services, warranty and H.O.G. activities will continue from January 2021 onwards,” he added.
In India, this agreement is a win-win situation for both companies and riders. The new set-up has brought together the iconic Harley-Davidson brand with the strong distribution network and customer service of Hero Motocorp.
It is worth mentioning here that in September Harley-Davidson Motor Company decided to exit India.
In India, after 11 years of operations, Harley said that it is discontinuing sales and production operations. Harley said that it is a part of its global restructuring plan.
Earlier, as part of its strategic plan, Harley-Davidson had hinted at exiting some loss-making markets and focusing on the US, Europe and parts of Asia Pacific.
