VIDEO | Cryopreservation services by Tomorrow Bio: German company is freezing dead bodies to revive them in future! Here’s how much it will cost you
Cryopreservation services by Tomorrow Bio: Instead of being buried or cremated, if you want after your death your dead body should be preserved so that in the future, with the help of technology, you can be “revived” again then this seems a bit possible now! A German company is offering cryopreservation services.
Startup Tomorrow Bio is freezing dead bodies so that these can be brought back to life again with the help of advanced technologies that will be available in the future.
As per the reports, Tomorrow Bio starts the cryopreservation process as soon as the person dies. Reportedly, the company has kept on standby advanced ambulances in many European cities. As soon as the person expires, the ambulance reaches the location and transports the dead body to the headquarters of the startup in Switzerland.
At the facility, these dead bodies are kept in liquid nitrogen-filled steel containers in which the temperature is maintained at minus 198 degrees Celsius.
Cost of cryopreservation services by Tomorrow Bio
Reportedly, the German company charges Rs 1.8 crore to preserve an entire human being and Rs 67.2 lakh if someone wants to preserve the brain only!
Over 600 applications received for cryopreservation
As per media reports, more than 650 people have already applied for cryopreservation services. Already, Tomorrow Bio has cryopreserved six individuals and five pets.
What is cryopreservation?
Cryopreservation is a process in which biological materials (like cells, tissues, organs, or an entire dead body) are frozen to preserve the materials for the future. At minus 195 °C or below, any cell metabolism that might harm the biological material in question is effectively stopped. In the process, liquid nitrogen is used.
Will in the future, we can put life back in a dead body?
This is a highly debatable topic! Currently, as you all know, it is impossible. In the future, the possibility of reviving dead bodies, through advancements in cryopreservation (and other technologies), is a topic of ongoing research (and speculation). Frankly speaking, there is no guarantee or scientific proof of its feasibility.
