INTERVIEW | Monday Talk: From his book, My Illegitimate Son, to who should be next PM of India – Sanjay Jha in conversation with Anurag Sason

Veteran politician and Congress party leader Sanjay Jha has come up with his new book – My Illegitimate Son: A True Story. Interestingly, the book has come at a time when the country is going through a politically charged environment. From what is in this book to who should be the next prime minister of India, journalist Anurag Sason has an in-depth conversation with the seasoned politician.

Here are some important excerpts from the exclusive interview. Scroll down to watch the full interview in Hindi.

Q1) What this book is all about?

Sanjay Jha: My last book – The Great Unravelling: India After 2014 – was about politics in the country after 2014. This book is actually a personal story. This is a book about love and loss…it’s about redemption. It’s a very unusual book written by a politician!

My next book is again a political one which will be released in January 2024.

Q2) Any special part in this book, that one should not miss?

Sanjay Jha: “Grief, once it checks in, it’s not paying guest, it’s a permanent guest!” I think a lot of people will think deeply about this one line!

The book is available in stores and also online on Amazon.

Q3) Will you share some insights about your upcoming book in 2024?

Sanjay Jha: It will be the second chapter of my earlier book (The Great Unravelling: India After 2014). Again it’s a political book. The Great Unravelling was till 2020. This book will be about 2021, 2022, and 2023 and it will talk about the future of India.

Q4) Your comments on the new Parliament building inauguration function.

Sanjay Jha: In this inauguration function, opposition parties have not participated. This is something serious. Prime Minister Narendra Modi should think about it. 18 opposition parties have not participated. These parties also have elected representatives of the people. So that means 40-50% of the people have not participated in the inauguration function of the Parliament. This raises a question on the Prime Minister.

Q5) Who should have inaugurated the new Parliamentary building – the President of India or the Prime Minister?

Sanjay Jha: New Parliament building must have been inaugurated by the President of India.

Q6) After Bharat Jodo Yatra, what changes did you see in Congress leader Rahul Gandhi?

Sanjay Jha: From Kanyakumari to Kashmir, he walked 4000 km. This is really courageous. Rahul Gandhi has changed, he is full of confidence. I think Rahul Gandhi has become a very seasoned guy and it augurs very well for the Congress party.

Q7) In the Lok Sabha elections 2024, will the Congress party be able to give a tough fight to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)? And will Rahul Gandhi be the PM face?

Sanjay Jha: In 2024, India needs a new Prime Minister. India does not need a new Parliament but a new prime minister…a person who will work for everyone irrespective of caste, creed, or religion!

People ask after Modi who? Let me tell you the answer. After Modi, anyone! Mamata Banerjee, Rahul Gandhi, KCR, MK Stalin, Uddhav Thackeray, Akhilesh Yadav … anyone could be a better Prime Minister then PM Narendra Modi.
