With the onset of 2022, the hijab controversy gripped the south Indian state of Karnataka. At the beginning of January 2022, some Muslim students wanting to wear hijab in a junior college were denied entry to classes. Soon, it spread to several other schools and colleges across the state.
Within no time, the row took political colour with names like Kangana Ranaut and Asaduddin Owaisi commenting on it.
