In just seven months the country will be going to witness its biggest democratic festival-the Lok Sabha elections 2019. As the dates for the general polls are drawing near, the political activities in the national capital have gained momentum.

Whereas on the one hand the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has written 10 lakh letters to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding full statehood for Delhi, on the other hand, Congress party has decided to intensify its agitation against sealing alleging that both Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and AAP have done nothing to stop it.

To talk about these and many more issues journalist Anurag Sason has an in-depth, exclusive conversation with Delhi BJP spokesperson Mr. Naveen Kumar.

Q1) In 2014 Lok Sabha elections, BJP won all seven seats in Delhi. Do you think the party will be able to repeat its performance?

Naveen Kumar: Not only the people of Delhi but the entire nation has faith on Prime Minister Narendra Modi because of the works which the BJP government has done in the past four-and-a-half-years. It was never done by any other government before.

Because of our works, not only on the seven seats in Delhi but the BJP will win more than 350 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2019 all over India.

Q2) But Congress’ and AAP’s internal surveys have claimed victory for them on most of the seven seats in Delhi.

Naveen Kumar: By the internal survey you mean the very same survey which is being done by the people of the party?

They can say anything. Have they not claimed that they will be winning 14 seats out of the seven!

Q3) Congress party has decided to intensify its drive against sealing. It has also alleged that BJP and AAP have done nothing to stop sealing drive in Delhi. Your comments.

Naveen Kumar: Whatever the problem Delhi is facing today, is all because of the Congress party and AAP is a B-team of Congress.

Q4) After the Election Commission’s (EC) notice to AAP, Delhi BJP has demanded that its symbol should be frozen. What you have to say on this?

Naveen Kumar: If you will going to hide facts from the EC then it has the full right to take action. If you will not going to obey the law then definitely the law will take its own course.

Q5) Aam Aadmi Party is demanding full statehood for Delhi. Recently it has sent 10 lakh letters to PM Modi demanding the same. Why BJP government is not in favour of giving full statehood to Delhi?

Naveen Kumar: When the Supreme Court has already given its judgement and chalked out the powers (between the LG and the Delhi government) then what is the need now for writing all these letters? Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal had praised the decision then why he is now sending all these letters to PM demanding full statehood for Delhi?

Q6) When the Delhi will get rid of its pollution problem?

Naveen Kumar: Transportation system in Delhi must be strengthened. The number of DTC buses have decreased, Delhi government has not given approval for the fourth phase of the Metro, there is a need for more CNG pumps in Delhi. Tell me, how the pollution problem in Delhi will be solved if you (Delhi government) will not strengthen the transportation system in the national capital?

Q7) But to control the pollution in Delhi the government has initiated plantation drive.

Naveen Kumar: Plantation drive of Delhi government is a total failure. A large number of plants were dumped at a single place without taking proper care of them.

Arvind Kejriwal used a huge amount of money to advertise Delhi government’s plantation drive. Instead of using the money on ads, if he had used it for the installation of a sewage treatment plant, the contamination level in river Yamuna would have decreased.

Q8) As per some reports, cricketer Gautam Gambhir may fight on the BJP ticket. Your comment.

Naveen Kumar: Congratulations! Well, I haven’t heard about this news but let me tell you one thing whosoever has gained respect in his carrier, in his life wants to get affiliated with the BJP.
